The Chapter facilitates the placing of markers on the graves of Confederate veterans and former UDC members. On August 14, 2005, such a marker was placed on the grave of Esther Green, a past President of the Manassas Chapter and a past Virginia Division President. A picture taken during the ceremony was included in the Newsletter of the Major General John Bankhead Magruder Chapter, MOSB, which participated in the ceremony.
The Virginia Division's Commemoration of the Battle of First Manassas is held annually on the third Saturday in July, usually at 10 o'clock, at the Manassas National Battlefield Park.
On April 10, 2008, the U.S. Senate passed legislation to designate the Journey Through Hallowed Ground a National Heritage Area. For more information, check out the Hallowed Ground Web site.
